The Picture Doesn't Do Them Justice
My husband loves the convenience of Ego's. And no offense to the Ego company but when I actually read the ingredient list to him, his eyebrows did raise a little. So I set out to find a recipe I could make that had more human friendly ingredients. Well, Mom came through for me because these waffles were supper easy and really delicious.
I froze several small ones wrapped in wax paper and a freezer bag so now he can just pop one of these in the toaster and he's actually getting something with real ingredients.
1 3/4 Cup Flour
2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Add to dry ingredients
2 cups buttermilk
2 eggs
Whip it all together and you can either do pancakes or waffles.

NICE!!! This is on my "to-do-" list for sure! Funny... Hubby and i are really getting into "make your own" too. Less packaging, and more wholesome ingredients.
ReplyDeleteNot only are they bad for you, there is also a shortage so I'm sure the price has got to be going up. Here is a link to the NPR story: http://bit.ly/15F3wl
ReplyDeleteMy wife eats a Gluten free waffle from Trader Joes every morning. I'm not sure what they have in them though...might be time to check!
Tony...There are a lot of good recipe's out there even for Gluten free waffles...you might want to check out the label and make your own if there is anything scary in there.
ReplyDeleteWendy...They are super easy and sooo good. I'm sure you'll love 'em.
